Meet The Authors
University/ Degree: Liverpool John Moores, Building Surveying
My name is Ian O’Neil and I am on the Graduate Construction Programme at Redrow.
The Redrow construction programme appealed to me because I have always has a passion for the construction industry, which has been expressed through my work at university. I graduated in 2015 from Liverpool John Moore’s University with a 2:1 in Bsc (Hons) building surveying. Building surveying gave me vast amounts of knowledge about the industry as a whole but I wanted to refine my knowledge to a particular role. As well as gaining experience through my studies, I had fortunately gained some working experience as a shopping assistant and then risk assessor.
However, my aim was to work at a thriving company, where I would be able to further my construction knowledge and unlock my true potential in the construction industry. After a bit of research I discovered Redrow, which offered opportunities for graduates such as myself. Redrow is a respectable company and I read about new developments across the country all of the time. What particularly grabbed my attention was the company ethos and how they constantly aspire to better themselves.
In terms of personal development, a huge bonus when working for Redrow is the opportunity to be mentored by leading construction professionals while working towards CIOB chartership, which is one of my future goals. Having the ability to achieve this while working for such a reputable company was an unmissable opportunity.
