Iya I’m Meg. I’m quite frankly obsessed with the walking dead and that is the main reason I love working on site, because if a Zombie apocalypse was to take place, I’ve decided with much consideration that there is no safer location than a building site: secure fencing, plenty of tools/weapons and loads of back up to help flight away the zombies… haha no I’m joking although I do love working on site. Every day is different and every day I learn something new.
I didn’t realise how many challenges Site Managers face in day to day life or how varied their job role is. If they’re not organising their working day, ordering materials and managing health and safety they’re helping customers with problems and managing trades all whilst sticking to a build programme. They really are on the go none stop. The construction graduate scheme gives you the opportunity to take on the role of an assistant site manager and is not just a shadowing course. From day one I had real responsibility which has massively helped in my development. I would recommend this scheme to anybody interested in the construction industry and willing to work hard and get stuck in from day one. Good Luck!
