University of Leeds/Civil & Structural Engineering
I graduated in June 2014 from the University of Leeds after studying Civil & Structural Engineering. With the option of continuing the degree for another year to obtain a Masters, I decided that the time was right to get started with working life as well as taking up the opportunity in the field I really wanted to get into. And ever since I started with Redrow, I haven’t looked back! The graduate course hasn’t been anything that I expected it to be. If you’re thinking the same way I was – being guided through the business over the duration of the scheme - you are definitely mistaken. From the get go, I have been thrown into the deep end and had to learn about my field and the business thick and fast. However, I would not have wanted this any other way as I’ve been able to do things that are not usually expected of a graduate – especially in the first 10/11 months. Thus, this has led me to a new position as a Trainee Engineer putting more responsibility/control over the tasks given.
Outside of work, I’ve maintained that Uni mentality and I am most likely to be out partying on the weekend and sharing it over snapchat (just ask the other grads!). There’s nothing like working hard and partying harder. But when I’m not being that party animal, I usually spend my time at the gym and have recently taken up boxing, watching Man United struggle post those Sir Alex Ferguson days (yes I am a United Fan! GGMU!) and out & about socialising with friends.
